OFFLINE & LOCAL NOTES

Take your notepad offline, with a backup you can keep.

Blob Notebook opens as a website and can keep working without a connection after its first setup. Your text, code notes, and settings stay in this browser on this device.

A FEW SIMPLE STEPS

Get started

  1. Open the notebook at /app/ while your connection is working.
  2. Wait for “Ready to use offline” and let the initial download finish.
  3. Try reopening the notebook without a connection and check the tools you need.
  4. Export a notebook backup before changing browsers, devices, or site data.

Online access, local storage, offline use

“Online” describes how you first reach the app. “Local” describes where its notes are saved. “Offline” means the browser has cached the application files it needs and can reopen the notebook, public language editors, comparison, and Developer tools without an internet connection.

Wait for “Ready to use offline” before relying on it. Then test an editor or /dev-tools/ with the connection disabled, including a function you have not opened before. Informational pages such as this guide and privacy remain online. External resources referenced by a preview may still need a connection.

Install it when your browser offers that option

Supporting browsers can install Blob Notebook as an app. Open the notebook online and use the browser’s install option if it is available. Installation gives the notebook its own window; it does not create an account or synchronize notes.

The installed app still uses browser storage for this site. Another browser, device, profile, or website domain has a separate notebook.

Make local notes recoverable

In Settings → Backup & Restore, export a .blobnote backup and keep the downloaded file somewhere you can find it. Import that backup in another browser when you want to move your notes. Individual note downloads are useful when you only need the text or source.

Clearing site data can remove local notes. Private browsing and temporary profiles are not suitable places to keep your only copy. Browser storage is not an encrypted vault or a replacement for backups.

A few questions

Do I have to install the app to use it offline?

Installation is optional. Offline access depends on the browser caching the app successfully. Test it in the browser profile you intend to use.

Will my notes appear on my phone automatically?

No. Notes are local to this browser and device. Export and import a notebook backup to transfer them.
